As a Member of the VIBA Board of Governors since 2010, she has previously served as Secretary and Co-Chair of the Bar’s CLE Committee. In January 2014, She will become the 57th President of the Territory’s unified organization of attorneys and judges.

She has been an attorney with BoltNagi PC since 2007 where she serves as Senior Litigation Association with the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group; a member of the Real Estate and Financial Services Group where she concentrates her practice in environmental matters; and a member of the Government Relations Group.

Last month was quite busy for BoltNagi’s Managing Attorney, Tom Bolt, as he was re-elected as Delegate-At-Large of  the American Bar Associate (ABA) House of Delegates, as well as Secretary of the ABA’s Law Practice Management (LPM) Section, at the ABA Annual Meeting in  Chicago, Illinois.

Nycole A. Thompson, an associate in the Litigation  and Real Estate & Financial Services Practice Groups of BoltNagi PC, one of the largest firms in the Territory, was elected to the position of Secretary of the Virgin Islands Bar Association at the Annual Meeting of the Bar at the Divi Carina Bay Resort on St. Croix, Virgin Islands on December 9, 2011.

The New York Times recently ran a couple of articles that highlight current changes in the practice of law. One article discussed the use of analytical computer tools to simplify discovery in complex litigation. Rather than firms having to dispatch an auditorium full of young associates to wade through mountains of documents, firms can now set specific search parameters and isolate relevant documents and phrases more quickly and more cheaply. The other article noted that law school applications are down more than 12% from last year, with the number of people sitting for the LSAT down more than 16%. U.S. Virgin Islands attorney Tom Bolt,  Managing Attorney of the St. Thomas law firm of BoltNagi PC,  was appointed earlier this week  to the influential Scope and Program Committee of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Law at the organization’s120th Annual Meeting in Vail, Colorado by ULC President Michael Houghton.

The Scope and Program Committee reviews and makes recommendations on all proposals for new  uniform and model acts drafted by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC). Bolt, who has served as a U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner for over 23 years, is also a member of the Legislative Council of the Uniform Law Commission.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has approved President Obama’s nomination of Ronald Sharpe as U.S. Attorney for the Virgin Islands by voice vote.

Sharpe, whom Obama nominated on March 10, has served as the interim U.S. Attorney for the Virgin Islands since September 2009.  He previously served in the U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Columbia from 1995 to 2009 rising to the position of First Assistant U.S. Attorney.  The Virgin Islands has not had a confirmed U.S. Attorney since October 2008 when Anthony Jenkins resigned.Continue Reading U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Approves Virgin Islands U.S. Attorney Nomination
