Tom Bolt, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Virgin Islands Corps of the Salvation Army, was elected Chairman of the Virgin Islands Continuum of Care on Homelessness at its Annual Meeting.  The Continuum of Care consists of all the public and private agencies that provide services to the homeless throughout the Virgin Islands.  Bolt, a St. Thomas attorney, and Managing Attorney for Tom Bolt & Associates, PC, a St. Thomas business law firm, has been active in advocating on behalf of the homeless for many years.

Also elected were Edith Moore of St. Croix as Vice President and Norma Hasell as Secretary.  Both represenatives are from St. Croix.  Ms. Moore is a representative of Ten Thousand Helpers of St. Croix and Ms. Hassell a representative of VI Care.

Bolt’s election is the first time a private sector representative has chaired the Continuum of Care on Homelessness.  "I look forward to working with the deJongh Francis Administration in eliminating homelessness in the Virgin Islands." Bolt said.  "We must take a new tact.  We must work together to develop our 10 year plan to eradicate homelessness.  It can be done!"

The Continuum of Care elected Michael Akin of Catholic Charities as Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee; Louise Petersen of Methodist Training and Outreach Center as Chair of its HMIS Committee; and Lisa Donastorg of the VI Department of Human Services as Chair of its Development Assistance Committee.

"It is our goal this year, to put the Continuum of Care on the right track, to align ourselves with the goals and aspirations of our members and to develop a long range plan to address the plight of homeless in the Virgin Islands." Bolt noted.
